Compare AMS, AMS lite, AMS 2 Pro and AMS HT spool dimensions and material limits, then check pack cost and the selected filament variant.
Short answer: choose a clearly specified 1.75 mm PLA offer, then check the exact feeder and spool before buying. A PLA label or a merchant’s “AMS compatible” claim does not establish fit. The four AMS models below have different spool mounting and material limits.
Five checks from printer to checkout
- Identify the printer and feeder model. AMS, AMS lite, AMS 2 Pro and AMS HT have different requirements; printer, nozzle and firmware support must also be checked.
- Confirm 1.75 mm on the selected variant for these four Bambu feeders. A 2.85 mm variant is not a substitute.
- Check the package and physical spool: total net filament weight, number of spools, width, diameter, hub fit and whether a reusable spool is included. A refill is not a complete spool.
- Compare price/kg and first-order cost separately. Add shipping, tax and any required reusable spool, adapter or other setup accessory; subtract only discounts you can actually use.
- Open the merchant listing and reselect the exact material, diameter, color, pack count and spool/refill option. Confirm seller, stock, shipping and checkout total before paying.

Spool, refill and cardboard checks
The original AMS rolls the spool at its rim; Bambu recommends an adapter for cardboard to reduce slipping and debris. AMS lite grips the center hole, so its hub dimensions matter and its paper-spool handling differs. Do not transfer a cardboard rule from one model to another. For AMS 2 Pro and AMS HT, confirm the specific spool or adapter with the manufacturer; the dimensions alone do not establish reliable feeding.
For refills, verify the reusable spool’s core, locking arrangement and capacity before purchase. An adapter changes the assembled dimensions: measure the finished spool, including rings. Check the spool’s temperature rating separately before heated drying.

This is a price shortlist, not a compatibility-tested shortlist. Pack weight does not reveal the size of each spool: a 5 kg spool and five 1 kg spools have different fit and first-purchase implications. If dimensions, refill fit or material identity are missing, request those details from the seller before ordering.
Scope and limits
These are manufacturer specification checks, not hands-on test results. Feeder loading support does not establish printer or nozzle support. Check your exact printer, firmware, connection accessories and slicer profile using the official setup instructions. The original AMS page lists TPU as unsupported, while the newer models explicitly list TPU for AMS; do not silently generalize that exception to every model.
