Good filament storage prevents print problems before they start. You do not need an expensive setup immediately, but you should avoid leaving every spool open on a desk for weeks.
The simplest storage method is the original resealable bag plus desiccant. If the bag is not reusable, use a large zip bag or airtight storage box.
A dry box is a sealed container that keeps filament dry while stored. Some dry boxes also let filament feed directly to the printer. This is useful for PETG, TPU, Nylon, and humid climates.
A filament dryer actively heats filament to remove moisture. It is useful when a spool is already wet or when printing moisture-sensitive materials. Dryers are more important for Nylon and TPU than for fresh PLA.
